Chihiro hoped for a sign, anything related to the World of the Spirits.
In all those years she never quitted visiting the river near her new house, longing for any connection with him.
Anything that could reassure the girl he'd never forget her.
So she would sit by the water looking at the flow, lost in her toughts.
The truth is, Haku wouldn't even allow himself to forget the girl.
Everyday he was near Chihiro, hiding from her sight.
His world had rules: relationships with humans were strictly forbidden.
So he would lie down on the riverbed, unable to give up on his love.
It was a spring afternoon when Chihiro was so tired that she fell asleep on a low branch of a tree.
Haku moved closer and watched her sleeping, like the most precious creature the humanity could boast.
And gently touched her hand.
